Unravel and heal
Lotus Yoga offers a system to help release
deep spinal tensions. Specific yoga poses,
purposely designed to open up the core of your body, from the tailbone
through your
whole spine, begin unravelling the deep spinal tensions; thereby helping
to heal your
body and help you to experience the deeper essence of your own being.
As well as the yoga poses, or 'asanas'
as named in Sanskrit, there are simple safe
yogic breathing techniques that help to bring calmness and relaxation
to your whole
being. The breath is like an umbilical cord that leads you back into
yourself - to your
centre, and helps reconnect you to the present moment. When thoughts
and concerns
for the future and past are quelled, the mind grows quiet in the present
moment,
which is where peace and contentment abide.
Who
Can Practice
Almost any 'body', regardless of age
or physical ability, can practice these spine
opening poses. The approach is gentle, yet precise, and props and
modifications are
used whenever appropriate. Without force or strain, we approach the
postures from
a place of surrender, using specific alignments that track into the
spine effortlessly,
releasing and softening the deep muscles from within.
Turn
off Your Mind
Stress and poor health are often caused
by doing too much, and being unable to turn
off the internal chatter of the mind.
In yogic terms, excessive doing or thinking
separates one from Consciousness, or the
inner awareness that connects us to the essence of oneself - to the
fullness of one's
own being.
When we learn how to re-connect on the
inside, we enjoy better health and a greater
sense of well-being. Life begins to take on a natural flow, as we
rediscover a sense of
stillness, fullness, and wonder from within.
